JUSTICE AMERICAN STYLE
This is justice American style
written by Robert Stewart
America sends to prison minor's who have no hope of gaining parole! Some of
their crimes may have been hideous but in many cases they have found themselves
in bad situations after being led astray. There is a line between justice and
revenge and I believe that line has often been crossed, not only by the
prosecution but by victims. Here are four young women who have all been inside
for up to 10 years after being convicted for murder as teenagers. I have
written to all four but only Erin has responded.
CYNTOIA BROWN
Cyntoia was just 16 and homeless when she was selling herself to survive.
She ended up as a sex slave and allegedly on drugs she shot a 43 year old man
she was staying with. In this situation I believe that anyone supplying minors
wirth drugs in order to control them should face the full weight of the law.
Young girls on drugs and no means to pay for them are trapped into a situation
they are unable to escape from. An ongoing campaign for Cyntoia's release
including an online petition has been ongoing but she is still in proison and
is now 28. She is in a Tennessee prison.
MORGAN LEPPERT
Morgan was 15 when she and her 22 year old boyfriend killed a disabled man.
Morgan was led astray by her boyfriend who then testified against Morgan. I
find that pitiful. I mean responsibility for this crime should have rested on
the shoulers of her boyfriend even if she did commit a hedeous crime. Morgan received life without parole but this
was reduced to 25 years until she can be eligible for parole. Morgan is in a
Florida prison. Morgan is held at the Florida Reception Women's Center Prison.
JENNIFER MEE
Jennifer was 22 years old when she lured an man to her home through social
media in order to rob him but her two male accomplices did that and in the
scuffle that followed, one of them shot the man who then died. In Florida,
everyone who is party to a robbery where someone dies is equally of murder as
the person who pulled the trigger. Jennifer was not even present at the crime
scene. She did not intend for this to happen. She got life without parole. In
this case Jennifer should have been guilty of manslaughter at the most. It was
certainly not a first degree crime. Jennifer is held at the Florida Womens
reception Center prison.
ERIN CAFFEY
Erin was 16 when she plotted the murder of her family but got her 19 year
old boyfriend and his accomplice to carry it out. Erin Dad survived the
shooting and forgave Erin. She may not walk out of prison. The other three
involved in the murders all told the investigating officers how it was all
Erin's slate a wrong idea but she should not have to take responsibility for
their actions. I have written to many in the whitehouse concerning Erin but
received no response. Erin is in the Hilltop Unit of Gatesville prison.
The prosecution in each of these crimes will say that the law says such and
such but my view is "a wrong is a wrong irrespective of what the law
says." you cannot legislate a wrong
a turn it into a right.
